Cardiac Rehabilitation
Cardiac rehabilitation returns patients to as healthy a lifestyle as possible and reduces their cardiovascular risk factors. Rehabilitation teams often include an exercise physiologist, a registered nurse, a registered dietitian, a clinical psychologist and a medical director.

Diagnostic Heart Procedures
Diagnostic heart procedures are guided by symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest pain or irregular heart rhythm. Cardiologists have a variety of tools to identify the cause of heart-related problems.

Interventional Heart Procedures
Depending on the results of diagnostic tests, cardiologists may recommend one or more interventional procedures, or refer the patient to a cardiovascular surgeon for bypass surgery.

Heart Failure Program
Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute introduced the region's first Heart Failure program in 1997. Because heart failure is a complex condition, a special team of healthcare professionals diagnose and treat chronic heart failure. This team provides the highest quality of patient care and the most innovative management of heart failure.

Pediatric Cardiac Cath Lab
In 1999, the Carolinas Medical Center opened the Pediatric Cardiac Cath Lab. The lab treats many children with congenital heart defects prior to surgery.
