Carolinas Medical Center, a Level I Trauma Center and 840-bed teaching hospital, has the busiest Energency Department in the state. Other specialties include the Blumenthal Cancer Center, Carolinas Heart & Vascular Institute, the Levine Children's Hospital, and the Behavioral Health Center.
CMC-Mercy is a 305-bed hospital with Heart and Lung Centers, including a Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center, an Inpatient Detoxification Program (Horizons), and an expanding Emergency Department.
Huntersville Oaks/ Sardis Oaks are long-term care and rehabilitation facilities, with a total of 295 beds, offering ministry opportunities to persons receiving short-term rehabilitation, hospice and palliative care and skilled nursing care. Students may also negotiate some clinical time for crisis ministry in one of the hospitals.
