Muscular Dystrophy Workshop

International Workshop for Glycosylation Defects in Muscular Dystrophies

Muscular Dystrophies WorkshopNov. 11-12, 2010
Charlotte, North Carolina USA

Since the first workshop in May 2008, numerous progresses have been made in different areas of muscular dystrophies associated with defects in alpha-dystroglycan (α-DG) glycosylation. Hosted by the Carolinas Medical Center with support from the Carolinas Muscular Dystrophy Research Endowment at the Carolinas HealthCare Foundation and the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the 2010 international workshop focuses on the pathways responsible for the functional glycosylation of α-DG; the mechanisms underlying dystroglycanopathies, and the development of novel experimental therapy to the diseases.

The workshop brings together internationally renowned scientists and clinicians with active research in these areas and provides a unique opportunity to discuss the significance of the recent progress, to facilitate collaboration, and finally to identify new approaches to treat the diseases.
