Media Parking & Directions

New Parking Information
Due to construction in that area and planned changes to traffic flow post-construction, we are moving media parking to a lot at the front of CMC. On the attached map, in the upper right quadrant, you will see a parking lot, colored light blue, with the letter A in the middle. This (Lot A) is where TV crews should park, beginning Monday, Feb. 9. It will give you a nice backdrop of CMC and Levine Children's Hospital.

Entrance to this lot is from Kings Drive. It is a gated, controlled access lot and you will need a code to enter. Codes will be good for three months (with the exception of the first code) and new codes will be relayed to you on a quarterly basis. This is an employee parking lot and private vehicles that do not have CHS parking stickers will be towed, so please be sure that if reporters accompany a live truck in their own car that they keep an eye on it or better, place a placard on the dash board indicating it is a news vehicle on assignment.

Looking at the map's upper right quadrant, you will see where Medical Center Drive crosses Sugar Creek. In that corner of the parking lot will be five spaces marked for Media Parking. These are for live trucks or other station vehicles dispatched to cover news at Carolinas Medical Center.

In the event of a catastrophic event that requires coverage near the Emergency Department, the Public Information department will make arrangements for Security to assist with parking. However, be advised that the first priority in an emergency will be ease of access for emergency vehicles.

As always, please call 704-355-2000 if you plan to come to campus during off-hours. A member of the media relations staff is always on-call and will advise Security of your plans. As we have done for many years, we will be happy to help you during business hours should you need patient conditions. Our policy remains in effect that reporters are not allowed on campus unaccompanied by a member of our staff.

We are looking forward to working with you from our new media parking location!

Emergencies
The hospital auditorium will be the designated media briefing location where administration, medical staff and affected patients and their families (if appropriate) will be available for interview.  If the emergency is ongoing, regular media briefings will be scheduled at the auditorium.

Members of the Public Information Department will be available 24/7 to assist media in obtaining interviews, staging live shots, receiving updates and being escorted to locations on the hospital campus.  We will also post information on our website as additional information becomes available.
