StudentsProgram Overview
The Center for Prehospital Medicine at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte is a regional Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-P) program that provides quality prehospital education that exceeds the standards recognized by the Department of Transportation-National Standard Curriculum, the National Registry of EMT's, the Joint Review Committee for EMT-Paramedic Accreditation and the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services.

The program faculty are leading educators in their fields and take a dynamic and multi-disciplinary approach to emergency medicine education. Students are provided with a strong foundation in clinical experiences, educational expertise and administrative leadership. This program is designed to meet the growing need for the advanced skill levels required in the EMS profession and to prepare students for the technical, clinical and administrative challenges of a career in EMS and healthcare today.

The curriculum is provided in affiliation with the Mecklenburg Emergency Medical Service Agency (Medic), Charlotte Fire Department, Mint Hill Rescue and North Mecklenburg Rescue.

Mission Statement
Educational programs administered by the Center for Prehospital Medicine provide quality medical education to professionals within the southern Piedmont region of North Carolina. To this end, the Center will maintain cooperative education agreement with Medic. A continuous quality improvement program ensures that high standards of practice and integrity are maintained.
