Making your home safe for children and adults is key to avoiding injuries. The Center for Injury Prevention offers the following tips and strategies to help keep your home safe for family members of all ages.
Senior Falls Prevention
Falls are the leading cause of Emergency Room visits for those over the age of 55 locally. The causes for these falls have many factors that will be individual for each person. In an effort to reduce the likelihood of a fall and develop individualize plans based on each persons need, Carolinas Rehabilitation together with the Carolinas Center for Injury Prevention and Carolinas Home Health Care have developed the Better Balance Program, the program involves and initial screening by a trained physical therapist to identify fall risk factors and the development of a plan and any needed referrals to begin a reduction of those risk factors.
