Importance of Sleep for Children
Sleep is vital to a child's health and development. A child needs to get the necessary quality and quantity of sleep, at least eight to nine hours. Sleep promotes alertness, memory, as well as performance in school. If they are lacking needed sleep they are more prone to behavioral problems and moodiness. Also, sleep deprived children are often mistaken for having attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) because the symptoms are so close.
Lack of sleep in children affects them more severely than some may realize. When children are tired they are more susceptible to getting sick and being stressed. Obesity has also been linked with the lack of sleep in children. It is very important that a child gets a good night's sleep every night in order to grow and stay healthy.
If you think your child may have a sleep disorder please look at our questionnaire for pediatric patients.
