Please, spread the word...  H1N1 and Seasonal Flu can be very serious!  While the majority of those who are hit with the Flu bug weather it with a few days of rest at home, the milder symptoms may quickly evolve to a very dangerous illness for a small percentage of individuals.  And in these situations, seek emergency care immediately!  What to watch for when the Flu gets dangerous?  Read more »

What You Can Do to Stay Healthy
CHS Stop the Flu! Graphic

Remember that the best protection is a flu shot, coupled with an active effort to stop the spread of germs:

  • Wash your hands frequently and use hand sanitizers liberally.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze; if you don't have a tissue available, cough into your upper arm away from others. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
  • If you fall ill at work, go home immediately and avoid contact with others
  • If you are sick, stay home until at least 24 hours after any fever subsides.

Carolinas HealthCare System is pleased to be your partner in stopping the flu bug in its tracks. We are monitoring outbreaks throughout the Carolinas, so you can make better informed decisions about work, school and use of healthcare facilities.

Check this site regularly for the latest information on how to protect yourself and your family from flu. We will also keep you updated on how flu may be impacting operations at CHS-affiliated hospitals, physician practices and other medical facilities.

Because of increased demand, seasonal flu shots may not be available at Carolinas HealthCare physicians' offices. CMC Rx locations in Mecklenburg and Cabarrus counties will provide seasonal flu vaccine to organizations that have reserved vaccine earlier in the year.

In late October, we expect immunizations for H1N1 to be available for the general public.  However, this schedule is subject to change based on supply and distribution originating from the Centers for Disease Control. Please check this website for further updates.

To help publicize Stop the Flu, we invite you to post the following informational posters (each featuring messages in both English and Spanish) below. Simply select the thumbnail poster below (in a pdf format) to post in your school, workplace or gathering place.

Together, we'll beat the flu!
