Summary of Financial Assistance Policy

Carolinas Medical Center provides high quality medical care to all patients, regardless of their ability to pay. Carolinas Medical Center provides an automatic discount to all uninsured patients, regardless of their ability to pay. Carolinas Medical Center provides 100 percent write-off on current medical bills for patients whose household income is less than 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Guideline.
For patients who do not qualify for a full 100 percent write-off on their bill, our financial counselors are available to help determine potential opportunities for partial assistance with catastrophic medical bills.
Upon approval for Financial Assistance, other current accounts and future accounts will be eligible for the same level of assistance, for a period of 90 days from the date of approval.
Carolinas Medical Center provides a variety of payment options, including online payments and long-term payment plans.
These guidelines currently exclude CMC-Randolph, which has its own Financial Assistance and Sliding Fee guidelines. Patients seeking assistance on these accounts should contact a Customer Service representative at 704-512-7000.
