Starting dates: UNC-Chapel Hill School of Medicine fourth-year academic calendar

Months available: July through December only

Rotation shift schedule: 8 - hours/shift 15 includes shifts in Peds Ed and one half day at the Carolinas Simulation Center.

Patient volume: 115,000+

Patient variety: Excellent acuity and diversity of patients

EMS opportunity- ambulance: optional Helicopter: Optional (available October through December only)

Housing available/cost: Dedicated housing for in-state students, Out-of-state: a variety of housing options are available at a resonable cost.

Student conferences: Yes, Monday - Wednesday in addition to the general residency conference Monday - Thursday (32 hours total didactic time each rotation)

Reading material: Provided

Exams required: Yes - written

Prerequisites: 4th year medical school elective

Malpractice provided: No

Special opportunities: Emergency Medicine Ultrasound experience

Other unique opportunites: Several senior residents participate in our medical teaching elective during which they work one-on-one with students in the ED (with no other clinical responsibilities during these dedicated shifts).
