Welcome to Carolinas Medical Center Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. We hope this site provides you with all the information you need about our orthopaedic surgery program, our hospital and our city. Our faculty includes 30 orthopaedic surgeons dedicated to our mission of providing excellent patient care, innovative clinical and basic science research, and enthusiastic teaching. The academic focus of our 10 CMC faculty is complemented by 20 faculty from OrthoCarolina, our region's largest orthopaedic surgery practice. We work in an academic medical center environment supported by one of the nation's largest public hospital systems, and are in a growing part of the country. Our residency provides high volume exposure in all subspecialty areas of orthopaedics, with two to five fellowship-trained faculty in each area. Our curriculum is built around the six core competencies, with special emphasis on professionalism and communication skills. We strive to provide our residents with the optimal environment for learning the art and science of orthopaedic surgery, and hope to inspire them to become leaders in our profession. We are excited about your interest in our department, and hope perhaps you will join us as we work to "do the right thing" for our patients, residents, community and profession.
Sincerely,
