PGY-4 Year

The major objective of the PGY-4 year is for each resident to function as a senior resident on each of the major services.

Staff Obstetrics

As the senior resident on the obstetric services, the resident will oversee both normal and high-risk obstetric management. Extensive experience is available in medical and surgical complications of pregnancy. The senior obstetric resident serves as a liaison between the generalist and maternal-fetal medicine faculty and the resident staff.

Staff Gynecology

The senior resident is responsible for all operative and non-operative aspects of inpatient care on this service. Training will include urogynecology surgery, minimally invasive laparoscopy and use of the laser. Extensive experience in the management of outpatient gynecologic problems is obtained with direct supervision of the gynecology faculty.

GYN Oncology

The resident will assist in the care of patients with a multitude of problems related to gynecologic malignancies. Surgery will be performed under direct supervision of the gynecologic oncology staff.

Private Gynecology

This rotation allows the resident to obtain significant experience in vaginal surgery with direct supervision by the private gynecology staff. The resident assigns all operative cases on this service to the appropriate resident.

Night Float

The resident will oversee all the ob/gyn activities between 6:30 pm and 7:00 am Sunday through Thursday nights.

Ambulatory Care

The resident will refine their management of ob/gyn issues during this rotation. This resident will be responsible for managing resident staffing of outpatient clinics and serve as a learning resource for the junior residents.
