Brief description of opportunities:
- Reception Desk: Volunteers greet and provide information in the hospital lobby during morning and afternoon hours.
- Cherry Smocks: During the morning hours, volunteers deliver daily newspapers and serve juices, if allowed by the patient's diet program.
- Wings: Volunteers perform an in-hospital mail/messenger service to designated stations/departments throughout the hospital. This is a morning and/or afternoon duty.
- Courtesy Service: In the afternoon volunteers deliver patients' mail and flowers, messages, etc. They offer books or magazines to the patients as well as updating the reading materials in the waiting rooms.
- Gift Shop: Assist customers from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., Monday - Friday. We are also open on the weekend as staffing allows.
- Thrift Shop: Located on 62 Trade Street in Tryon, NC, the Thrift Shop is operated for the community, dealing in donated merchandise only. The stock consists of clothes, small household items and furniture, however, anything in saleable condition for which there is display space is accepted. The staff consists of salespersons, pricers and bookkeepers. Profits of the shop are used by the Auxiliary to supplement hospital needs. The Thrift Shop is open from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., Monday - Friday and from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., Saturday; for more information, please call 828-859-6950.
- Courier Service: Couriers work Monday through Friday to delivers and picks up medical reports and mail for all local physician offices, and other medical facilities.
- Junior Volunteers: Ages 14 to 18 volunteer in various positions.
- Print Shop: Most all of the forms and other printed materials required for use in the hospital are prepared by a talented and accomplished group of dedicated volunteers who report for duty on Tuesday morning.
- Golf Cart: The Golf Cart is used to assist patients, visitors, employees and other people entering or exiting the building. The Golf Cart may also be used to transfer patients from any of the Flex Dr. Offices to/from the hospital. Applicants must provide a copy of driver's license and automobile insurance. This information is submitted to the hospital Liability carrier for review and determination if requirements are met to be eligible to drive the Golf Cart. Shifts are from 7 - 10 a.m.; 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.; 1 - 4 p.m., Monday - Friday.
