At each location, we combine a high level of professionalism and technology, but with the equally important human touch. And that’s where your volunteer spirit can be of great help. You can be a healing, high-touch presence at work in a high-tech environment. You can help alleviate the natural fears and apprehensions of the patient and family with your courteous and helpful service. You can help reduce isolation and stress of being hospitalized by delivering mail or flowers to a patient, filling a water pitcher, escorting a family member to the appropriate area, running errands or performing clerical duties for the staff.
Volunteers are valued members of the CMC patient care team. We offer opportunities in a wide variety of areas including patient services and non-patient care. Whether you are a retiree, a career professional, a high school student or homemaker, Carolinas Medical Center can meet your needs and interests. We offer a year-round Teen Program for high school students ages 14-17.
Volunteers receive a sense of satisfaction and pride when they see patients' light up as they deliver flowers, offer refreshments from the Hospitality Cart or when they comfort and give compassion to those who may be anxious.
